The participants and marshals for being a friendly crowd and for taking the time to be involved in such a good cause.
Martin and Chris for marshalling on behalf of fwdfwd for the 2 days, for being tail end Charlie and making sure nobody got lost.
Geoff, Daniel and his parents for marshalling on Sunday.
Martine at Camping Reine Mathilde at Etreham.
David & Jeanette Mabbutt, Mussee Percee du Bocage St Martin de Besaces
Stephanie Delacour, Tourist Information, Pays Bocage Virois.
And especially Normandie 4x4, Rte Vire, Neufbourg for going above and beyond the call of duty. Without them, the rally would have been many cars down had they not given their services as well as finding spare parts to keep the vehicles moving.

So the 2 days that the vehicles were in Lower Normandy were over and it had been exhausting but we were extremely pleased with everyone’s enjoyment of the time here. Some of the vehicles were fitted with tracking devices so it was possible to see where the rally was at any time of the day or night. Imagine Vaughn’s surprise when vehicle number 12 was shown stopped on the motorway whilst the other vehicles were some distance away, and then the phone rang………..one of the competitors had serious problems with his engine and was going nowhere.

The next road book was distributed giving directions to St Mere Eglise and many participants chose to stop at other memorials on their way to their next location which was fwdfwd!! Vehicles began to arrive around midday; this was to be a more relaxed time for everyone, it had been a busy two days before and there would still be some distance to travel to complete the rally. We had laid on a word search competition coupled with a quiz based on info from the goodie bag distributed the day before.

After months of liaison with the organisers of the rally, the participants finally arrived in France on the morning of Sunday 20th June. Forty five entrants and 5 marshal 4x4s and their occupants left the ferry at Caen and followed their first mission, to drive to Pegasus Bridge Museum. We had a maximum of 10 minutes to put up the gazebo and hang the bunting, and as we finished, the vehicles had begun to arrive…

The large meeting for 4x4s at Servaville just outside Rouen was the inaugral outing for the revamped demonstartion trailer for fwdfwd.com. The GPS definitely showed a travel time of just over 3 hours. Unfortunately, due to the size of the hills coupled with a slight overheating problem our 4 am start meant we finally arrived just after 9am.

The newest addition to the family arrived in April this year. She has been doing exclusive photoshoots for Retro Ford Magazine (already) but we will steer her gently towards 4x4s at some point.

For those of you who have visited previously, you will know we have previously used a caravan as reception. Well, this has now been replaced by a trailer which I plan to take to shows both in France and the UK.
